weather story march 11

The Iowa Department of Transportation reports that area roadways are wet, and may be partially snow or ice covered and slick. Conditions are worse to our north and west. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports that normal winter driving conditions exist, and urge caution. County and state road crews are in operation treating area roadways.

During the weekend, we received around 1.87 inches of rain and a trace of snow. That rain and melting snow caused area rivers to rise; English Creek went over its banks, resulting in the closure of 108th place south of the County home yesterday. Water levels have fallen overnight. If you must travel this morning, take plenty of time to get to your destination, and give our road crews and first responders plenty of room to work.
