Jordan Donovan Cowman age 19 of Des Moines is now in custody in Marion County Jail after turning himself in today. He joins Jake Smith also age 19 of Knoxville and a 17 year old female who are allegedly involved in a case involving the creation and distribution of a video of Smith having sex with a fifteen year old girl.

Smith faces two class C felony charges related to sex with the fifteen year old.

Lt. Aaron Fuller with the Knoxville Police department says that at some yet to be determined time in mid-February Jake Smith allegedly engaged in a sex act with the girl, while Cowman videotaped it.  Subsequent to the filming, the video was distributed to others with Smith’s and Cowman’s knowledge, but not to the knowledge of the victim.

Cowman’s charge is also a Class C Felony, the 17 year old juvenile’s an aggravated misdemeanor. His charge results from allegedly filming the incident, and disseminating it to at least one other person. The charges against the juvenile relate to her receiving the video, and allegedly showing it to at least one other person. She was not present during the commission of the act.

A class C felony is punishable by confinement for no more than ten years and a fine of at least $1,000 but not more than $10,000.

The Police Department asks that anyone who was sent a copy of the video to bring it to them so it can be destroyed. Not reporting receipt of the video could result in possession of child pornography charges.

The Knoxville Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident.
