Iowa Conference baseball gets going on Saturday for Central and Loras. The first doubleheader between the two schools was supposed to take place today, but was postponed to Sunday due to the cold weather. The Dutch went 6 – 3 in their trip to Florida, and head coach, Adam Stevens says that his team saw their opponents’ top pitcher in a majority of the games. He added that having to go up against some outstanding pitching will benefit his team in their four game series against the Duhawks. Loras went 3 – 3 during their trip to a different part of Florida in Auburndale. Stevens says he predicts low-scoring close games during the four game set, and his coaching staff is still trying to come up with a starting line-up for the home opener because of the newly-added extra nine inning game to every Iowa Conference series this spring. Central and Loras will throw the first pitch of the Iowa Conference opener at 1:00 p.m. Saturday on Central’s baseball field, which will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS.
