The Marion County Board of Supervisors is moving forward with a wireless network plan as part of their plans to revamp information technology. GIS/Web Coordinator Bill Buttrey discussed the proposal with the Supervisors yesterday morning. Buttrey said that five departments were initially going to split the costs, but with the recent movement to update infrastructure overall, they were hoping the costs could become non-departmental. The network will also grant wireless network access to both courtrooms, neither of which is wired presently. Buttrey said these wireless network improvements could help save costs that come with pulling wires, especially in a building like the Courthouse.
