Dropping the first game of the doubleheader in 13-innings, Central’s baseball team rebounded against Buena Vista in the nightcap to salvage a split in the opening pair of games on Friday in Pella. Down by one with two outs and two strikes on them, Dutch designated hitter, Robbie Rushing doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the seventh to extend the first game of the four-game series. It was the Beavers, though, that would prevail 4 – 3, after a pair of singles following a walk plated the go-ahead run. Central came back to win game number two, 3 – 1, on the back of their ace, Ryan Dusil (Due-sull), who scattered six hits over seven innings to improve to 4 – 1 on the year. Central is sitting at 16 – 13 overall and an 8 – 10 mark in league play. They can get back to .500 today with a pair of wins over the Beavers this afternoon; first pitch at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex Field is at 1:00 p.m.
