The Central baseball team was able to withstand an eight-run fifth inning by Cornell and win Tuesday night, 12 – 11. The Dutch went up 10 – 2 in the fifth, as Cornell was able to bat around and run up six hits and take advantage of one Central error. With his team down by one in the seventh, Michael Jontz reached on a fielder’s choice to score the tying run, stole second, then scored the go-ahead run himself on an error on the next play. Mark Schroeder gained his second win of the season by pitching two innings and only giving up one run and striking out two. Central is now 8 – 5 on the season and will get back to Iowa Conference games this weekend with a four game set against Dubuque starting on Friday with a seven and nine inning doubleheader.
