A sweep of Luther is all the Central softball team needed to at least get a share of the Iowa Conference title, and they did just that on Saturday. A walk-off RBI double in the 8th inning off the bat of Karlee Rock broke a scoreless tie and gave Central the momentum they needed the rest of the afternoon, in a 1 – 0, 5 – 3 pair of wins. Mallory Scheulenberg threw all eight innings of the first game, striking out six and only allowing three hits. Central finishes the regular season with a 28 – 7 record, and a 12 – 2 mark in the Iowa Conference, which was tied with Coe, who also swept Dubuque to tie for first place. Cedar Rapids hosts the Iowa Conference tournament starting on Thursday; Central earned a number two seed, and will play the winner of Luther/Buena Vista at 4:00 p.m.
