The Central College softball team battled through wet and blustery conditions, outlasting Wisconsin Eau Claire 9 – 1 Saturday morning in five innings. The Dutch struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning; the first two coming on a bunt single by Karlee Rock. After Eau Claire’s lone run was plated in the top of the second, Central answered with an RBI single by Whitney Sowers. Central ended the game via the run-rule with a five-run fifth, with a walk-off base hit by Emily TeBrink. The Dutch were slated to play Gustvaus of Minnesota afterwards, but was cancelled due to rain. The Central women are now winners of seven straight, have a record of 16 – 5, and will open Iowa Conference play on Wednesday afternoon in Indianola against number 14 ranked Simpson.
