It was the Tigers of Grinnell that escaped the jungle of Willow Creek golf course in Des Moines with a Little Hawkeye Conference boys’ and girls’ title on Monday. Grinnell’s boys shot a total of 308 to beat Pella, who recorded a second-place 318, and Pella Christian who was fifth at 330. Knoxville finished sixth with a total team score of 350. Colton Bradley of the Little Dutch was the runner-up medalist with a score of 76; just one shot behind medalist Wade Mawe of Grinnell. Justin Stravers was the lead golfer for the Eagles, shooting a 79 to earn tenth place and All-Conference honors. The Tigers’ girls ran away with their meet at Bos Landen, shooting 43 shots better than second place Newton to complete the Grinnell sweep in the conference this season. Pella was fourth with a team score of 443, and Pella Christian ended up right behind them in fifth place with a 468. Camille Henry for Pella was tied for fifth overall and made all-conference, and Autumn Vos shot a 99 for Pella Christian, good for third place individually. The Pella and Pella Christian girls will be in action later today at the Pella Country Club for a triangular meet with Lynnville-Sully. Pella’s boys go to Washington for a meet later today as well, and Pella Christian will be participating in a tournament at Colfax-Mingo this Saturday.
