Two $100,000 grants are coming into Marion County to help with mine reclamation. Pathfinders Resource Conservation and Development says the grants will help fund reclamation at the “Sailor” and “Roundybush East” abandoned mine sites in the county. Those projects will reclaim 28.5 acres in all and improve waters flowing into the English Creek and Cedar Creek, respectively. Assisting in the project are the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship Division of Soil Conservation, the Red Rock Environmental Education Fund and the Marion Soil and Water Conservation District.
