The Knoxville City Council is considering tightening some timelines in the nuisance ordinances. The first reading of a change was approved at last Monday’s City Council meeting. The ordinance would allow property owners less time to remedy or abate nuisances after being notified. For example, city code currently allows for seven days’ notice to remove weeds. The new ordinance would allow two days. The ordinance also covers nuisances such as dead trees, wood accumulation, and debris storage. The Council will consider the changes again at the next Council meeting on the first Monday in May.
