The Knoxville School Board last night selected Heritage Wellness Center/ATS Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine to provide sports medicine services for the next school year. The Scott Evans-led group was selected with a 4-1 vote, with Stephanie Vickroy voting against the motion. Athletic Director Randy Wilson said in a written statement that after talking with coaches, he recommended going with 21st Century Rehab. Their proposal was similar to that of Heritage, but had a fee of 1500 dollars. Vickroy said that she would vote for 21st Century because she didn’t see a reason to go against Wilson’s recommendation, and he had done the leg work. Other board members agreed that’s usually the case, but cited the trust they have in Evans for providing sports medicine services for 36 years, as well as the fact that there was no fee attached to his proposal.
