Saying it was the team’s best defensive effort of the season, Coach Dylan Mick saw his Panthers defeat Fairfield 1-0 last night in boys soccer. Matt Smith got the only goal of the match in the 47th minute. Mick said Fairfield was one of the better team he has seen all season and felt it prepared his guys for what they will see later in the season when they face the likes of Pella, Newton, and Norwalk. Knoxville is now 4-2 on the season and will face the three afore mentioned teams starting with Newton this Friday. Meanwhile the girls while scoring their first goal of the season and seeing more improvement, still fell last night to Fairfield 3-1. Brooke Chrisman finally broke the ice for Knoxville with her first goal of the season.
