Everyone thought the Little Hawkeye Conference Track and Field Meet on the boys side would come down to Knoxville and Pella. Both schools did not disappoint with Pella edging out the Panthers by 32 points. While the Little Dutch celebrated a team title, Knoxville scored firsts in five events. Wick Cunningham coming off his record setting day at the Drake Relays over the weekend continued his mastery of the distance races by claiming the conference title in both the 1600 and 3200. If Cunningham was the distance runner, then Tanner Dunkin was the sprinter as he took gold in the 200 and 400, Ryan Douglas won the most grueling event in track and field, the 400 hurdles. Second places went to Cunningham in the 800, Dunkin in the 100, Douglas in the 110 hurdles, Jacob Moats in the high jump, and the medley relay. Knoxville struggled on the girl’s side of the things placing seventh with 18 points. Emily Belloma’s third place in the high jump and the four-by-200 team’s fourth place were highlights of the meet.
