Little Dutch Soccer Take Home Third in Tulip Tournament

The Pella High boys’ soccer team came away with a pair of wins and a third place finish at their own invitational tournament on Saturday. The Little Dutch opened the morning off with a win over Indianola, 1 – 0 on a goal from Will Warner in the 46”. Pella followed it up by ending their next game in a tie with Southeast Polk with a couple of goose eggs on the scoreboard. With a 1 – 0 – 1 record on the day, Pella earned a spot in the consolation game against A-D-M, and won that match-up, 1 – 0, thanks to a goal from Austin Van Genderen in the 37”. Grinnell beat Southeast Polk in the championship game to take first place. This was the third year that Coach Mark Solomon has done the Tulip Tournament, and he says that plenty of fans came out to watch all of the action. The 8 – 2 – 2 Dutch will go to Knoxville to play the Panthers next on Tuesday.
