One hundred and three years. That’s how long the famous Drake Relays have taken place, and today, everything gets going on the illustrious Blue Oval. The Knoxville boys’ track and field team qualified five events for the Relays. Senior Wick Cunningham will start things off today in the 3200 meter run at 4:25 p.m. The rest of the events that the Panthers qualified for, including the 100 and 1600 meter dash, and the sprint medley and 4 x 400 meter relays, will take place Friday and Saturday.

Pella, Pella Christian, and PCM are also competing at the Drake Relays starting today. Pella as a school qualified 11 different events. Jessica Holterhaus of the Lady Dutch competes in the long jump today at 3:30 p.m. The other events involving Pella are running events and the discus throw that start on Friday. Senior Madison Fopma of Pella Christian will compete in the high jump on Friday. The PCM girls qualified their 4 x 100 meter relay team, which also races tomorrow.
