PCM golfers put on another show both at home and away on Thursday, as they each came away with a meet win and some low individual scores. The girls’ meet in Monroe was won by the host Mustangs for the first time in several years, says Coach Val Edwards. Four ladies finished in the top ten for PCM, who beat second place Albia by 28 strokes, led by Maddie Peters’ round of 91, and Rachel Phifer carded a score of 98. Pella’s girls came in third, with Camille Henry’s round of 102 and Anna Roslien not too far behind with a 109. Hunter Van Veen spouted off a tournament-record round of 69, which was three under par for the day, to help his PCM boys’ golf team edge both Des Moines Christian and Centerville, 308 – 316. Justin Beener was not too far behind with a round of 76. Coach Mike Smith told KNIA/KRLS Sports that his team didn’t beat any slouches; as Centerville is ranked fourth in Class 3A and Fairfield was also ranked in the top ten.
