At Tuesday night’s Pella City Council meeting, the council approved design services for upgrades to the water treatment plant. HR Green Incorporated has been working with city staff to identify future water needs for the city, and it was determined that a higher treatment capacity would be needed in the future, and a new system to treat water from secondary sources in the summer would prevent a decrease in water quality. The council approved payment of $945,500 for design services, roughly 14% of the total projected costs.
