It was cold on the soccer pitch Tuesday night, but the back of the nets were scorching for Pella, as both the Little and Lady Dutch prevailed in their contests over cross-town rival Pella Christian. The girls won 10 – 0 after Mallory Lynch scored the game-ending goal in the 60’. Coach Mark Howard says that his girls really started to click once they adjusted to the wind. Eagles’ coach, Bill Collman said that his girls learned a lot by playing such an experienced squad. Bri Schroder scored five times, Gabi Meirick twice, Lynce twice and Allie DeMeuelenaere also secured a tally for the Lady Dutch, who are now 8 – 1 on the season, and the Eagles’ girls drop to 3 – 7. The Eagles and Little Dutch played a much tighter game that went Pella’s way in the end, 3 – 2. The Little Dutch got out to a quick 3 – 0 lead, but the Eagles didn’t go away, scoring the next two. Eagles’ coach, Gerrit Brouwer says that his guys had a lot of opportunities to tie it up, but they just couldn’t get a break to go their way. David Kish scored both of the Eagles’ goals, and it was Austin Van Genderen scoring twice and Will Warner once for the Little Dutch, who are now 6 – 2 – 1 overall while the Eagles drop to 1 – 6. Pella Christian doesn’t play until next week, while Pella’s girls play Knoxville also next week, and the boys have their home tournament this Saturday.
