The Little and Lady Dutch of Pella stole the show on the track in Oskaloosa on Monday, as they each won the Little Hawkeye Conference meet. The Lady Dutch ended with 131 points, 14 points more than second place Norwalk. Pella Christian’s girls had 30 points to finish sixth. Nadine VanZomeren of Pella took first in the 100 meters and Lydia VanEe crossed the line first in the 400 meter hurdles, as the Lady Dutch came in first in six different events. Madison Fopma finished first in the high jump for the Eagles, and Jenna Fynaardt was second in the 100 meter dash to lead the way for Pella Christian. Brent Van Hauen for the Pella boys said they had a good win in their half of the meet, winning 168 – 136 over Knoxville. Pella Christian’s boys came in seventh with 19 points. The 1600 meter medley relay team came in first, and Wade Pingel also won the 800 meters, just to name a few of the highlights of the evening for the Little Dutch. Derek Van Kooten for the Eagles was first in the long jump and third in the high jump. Both Pella and Pella Christian will have their boys’ and girls’ track teams in action next inside Pella Stadium this Monday.
