With cold weather and even some snow pushing sporting events back, the Pella High girls’ tennis team will try once again to host Grinnell at home for a conference confrontation, while the track and field ladies make a trip out to Winterset for a meet. The Lady Dutch tennis team fought hard with rival Knoxville on Tuesday, but just could not pull out a win, dropping the meet 6 – 5. Head coach, Tiffany Rohe said that she’s very proud of the girls’ effort to not give up during their games and their will to fight until the final point. The Lady Dutch is one of our area teams benefitting from the “depth factor,” and they’ll look to put that to good use once again against a stacked field in Winterset. Coach Dak Rasmussen said that his team’s biggest strength so far this season has been the success from the non-varsity members of the Lady Dutch bleeding into the varsity side of things. The tennis meet takes place at Caldwell Park at 4:00 p.m. while the girls’ track meet starts at 4:30. The boys’ track meet they were supposed to be at yesterday in Waukee has also been rescheduled for today if the weather holds up. That is scheduled to get going as well at 4:15 p.m.
