Central’s baseball team held Dubuque to three runs in each game of their doubleheader, but had to come from behind to win both on Saturday, 5 – 3 and 4 – 3. The Dutch and Spartans were tied at two heading into the sixth, when Central exploded for three runs on a trio of base hits and a Dubuque error. Dirk Lindaman pitched all seven innings to earn the win for the Dutch to improve to 3 – 1. In the nine-inning game, Central found themselves again in a hole in the late innings, down 3 – 2 in the seventh, more Dutch small ball scored both the tying and go-ahead runs in the seventh and eighth, respectively. Central has now won their last five and are 12 – 5 overall with a mark of 4 – 2 in the Iowa Conference. The Dutch has a few days of rest before their next doubleheader on Tuesday in Indianola versus Simpson.
