Crews are currently making repairs to the water line break that’s impacting Marion County Rural Water customers. The break occurred to a six inch pipe south of Knoxville. If that’s the only break on the line, which officials believe it is, then water service should be restored to customers sometime this evening.
However, those customers will then be under a boil order advisory. The boil order covers customers in Attica, Pershing, areas to the north and west of Bussey, areas south of Flagler, and areas south of Knoxville. If you lost water or had a decrease in water pressure at all during the past day, you’re being impacted by the boil order.
Due to the potential for bacterial contamination, it is being recommended that the water be boiled before using for drinking or cooking or that an alternative source such as bottled water be used.
It is recommended not to drink the water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
