They may as well have had a bumper sticker on the back of their bus that said, “To Livermore or Bust!,” as the PCM boys’ golf team had no problem placing first in their district to earn themselves a trip to state next weekend. The Mustangs shot a 309, a total of 17 strokes better than second place Des Moines Christian. Justin Beener, or “The Beebs” as his teammates call him, was the medalist on the day, thanks to his six birdies and a round of 71. Devon Woody was third overall with a 75, and Hunter Van Veen shot a 77. The Mustangs’ overall record sits at 92 – 2, which matches a school record for wins, and their next and final stop of the season will be in Livermore, Iowa for the Class 2A State Golf Meet next Friday and Saturday. It will be the fifth trip to state for the Mustangs in the last six years.
