Hovering right around the 300 mark, the Central men’s golf team opened up the NCAA Division III national tournament in 18th place after day one. Sophomore David Watson had an impressive two-over par round of 73 to lead the Dutch, who turned in a round one score of 306. Methodist University out of North Carolina currently leads the field with a combined first round total of 286. Watson’s 73 was good for 21st overall individually. Central is right on the bubble of the cut line, as only the top 15 teams after today’s action will play the final 36 holes on Thursday and Friday.
