One of only 62 teams to still be playing at this point in the year, the Central softball team will try to start things off on the right foot later today at home against Cornell College in the first round of the NCAA Division III softball tournament. This will be the Dutch’s 25th tournament appearance and the third straight year that they have been selected as host of a regional site, while it’s the very first postseason appearance for Cornell, who was part of the Iowa Conference last year. Last season, Central swept the season series, 4 – 2 and 4 – 1 and haven’t met since then. The Rams, who are now a part of the Midwest Conference, are hitting .320 as a team, with pitcher Jackie Sernek leading the way on the mound with an ERA of 1.69 and a 13 – 3 record. You can catch all of today’s action live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live worldwide at KNIAKRLS.com with the voice of the Dutch, Trevor Castle calling the action. Our pregame coverage starts at 3:45 p.m. with first pitch at 4:00.
