Pleasantville, Melcher-Dallas, and Twin Cedars round up the rest of our area schools who will also be present at the Blue Oval in Des Moines today for the Class 1A state track meet. The Trojans’ boys will compete in six different events: the 200 meter dash, the 4 x 100 and 200 meter relays, the shuttle hurdle relay and both the high and long jump. The Saints’ boys will try and take their 4 x 400 meter relay team and Ross Dawson in the discus to the medal stand, while Corey Harrell for the Sabers will be throwing the shot put. Only one local girls’ team will be participating in the Class 1A state meet this year, and that’s Coach Jesse DeGeest’s Twin Cedars’ shuttle hurdle relay team. They’ll be in a preliminary heat with West Hancock, Audubon, and Gehlen Catholic. Keep listening to KNIA/KRLS throughout the day for live updates from Drake Stadium for this year’s state track meet.
