Central baseball opens up the Iowa Conference tournament in Cedar Rapids with a game against Simpson this afternoon. The Dutch, who finished the season with an overall record of 20 – 17 and a league mark of 12 – 14, earned a number four seed in the tournament. Wartburg and Coe each received a first round bye for finishing first and second in the conference, respectively. The Dutch and Storm split the season series, with each team sweeping the other on the road. Most recently, Simpson came to the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex and came from behind to win both games on April 30. The winner of today’s game will face the number one seed, Wartburg, at 7:00 p.m. this evening, while the other will face the loser of the Buena Vista – Loras game tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. First pitch of the Dutch – Storm game is at 1:00 p.m. at Perfect Game Field in Cedar Rapids.
