At approximately 3pm Friday the Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of a fatal accident on Hwy 92/5 just west of Hwy 14. A tanker truck and a 2007 PT Cruiser were involved. The Iowa State Patrol reports that the driver of the PT Cruiser, Pamela M Emerson, 53, of Knoxville died in the accident. The truck driver was not transported from the scene. The Iowa State Patrol reports that for an unknown reason, Emerson attempted to cross both lanes of westbound Highway 92/5 and was struck broadside by the truck. The accident is under investigation by the Knoxville Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, and the Iowa State Patrol.
