Memorial Day weekend remembrances began Friday in Marion County. A group of veterans and volunteers raised more than 200 flags over the grounds at Graceland Cemetery. Marion County Veterans Affairs Director Mike Kuhn says that the Graceland ceremony is important because we need to remember those that have gone before us to give us the freedoms that we enjoy, as well as be thankful for their families and those that supported them. Kuhn adds we should pass that heritage onto the next generation so they have a sense of truth and realization of why they can have the freedoms they have today.
