Roland-Story is the destination for the PCM boys’ and girls’ track and field teams for the Heart of Iowa Conference meet on Monday. The Mustangs have been performing well this season under a pair of first year head track coaches. The girls were able to qualify their 4 x 100 meter relay team for the Drake Relays last weekend, and the boys have several events ranked in the top five at their state qualifying meet site at Eddyville-Blakesburg. PCM’s girls’ head coach, Bridget Burns, tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that she’s been working the most with the relay teams on cleaner handoffs, as it kind of bit her girls at the Blue Oval with a dropped pass of the baton. Burns says that the rustiness is something that all schools in the state are dealing with due to the number of meets that have been cancelled already this year because of the unusual weather. The Co-ed Heart of Iowa Conference meet is slated to get going at 4:00 p.m.
