The Fifth Annual Historic Bridge Weekend Conference is coming to Iowa–and Marion County– this summer. According to conference organizers, Iowa has a well known bridge history. Some historical bridge designs–like the Marsh arch, the aluminum girder, and the Thacher truss–originated in Iowa. The group will tour the bridges of Marion County on August 11, and will hear a talk about the Horn’s Ferry Bridge at the Red Rock Information Center, with presentations, dinner, and a silent auction at Bos Landen during the dinner hour.
