For what likely is the first time in school history, the Knoxville Girls Tennis Squad has advanced to the Class 1A Team Regional finals on Saturday. The Panthers took care of their first round opponent, Maharshi 5-2. Winning for Knoxville was Kassi Griggs, Shamene Norman, and Taylor Carter in singles play. Knoxville clinched the win in doubles with two wins. After that, Knoxville was matched up with Davis County in the second round and was even more impressive in a 5-1 victory over the Mustangs. The Panthers clinched the meet in singles play by sweeping all five matches. The Panthers now must wait over a week to see who their opponent will be in the regional final in Iowa City next Monday. It will be either Marion or Davenport Assumption.
