A Knoxville man has pled guilty in federal court to possession of a firearm as a felon. 54-year-old Daniel Ray Pope entered that plea last month in Des Moines. Pope’s criminal history in Marion County stretches back to 1995, when he was convicted going armed with intent, and 2001, when he was convicted of assault with use of a deadly weapon.
Last September, he was found with weapons and ammunition. Court documents state that prosecutors could prove those weapons crossed state lines, making it a federal offense. Pope faces a maximum of 10 years in federal prison.
