The Knoxville City Council officially ensured sewer rates would not increase this summer during their regular meeting on Monday. The Council voted unanimously to cancel the 5 percent increase that was scheduled to begin on July 1st. City Manager Harold Stewart says they’ve heard some of the frustration coming from businesses and residents regarding sewer rates, and they worked diligently to balance the budget without the increase. That increase by a previous City Council was scheduled a few years ago.
