Not too shabby for a pair of first year head track coaches. A total of 12 events at the Class 2A state track and field meet will have at least one member of the PCM track team competing in them. Coach Greg Bonnett will send two different athletes to compete inside Drake Stadium, including Hunter Reed in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles, and Ethan Kain also in the 110 meter hurdles. Bridget Burns’ girls qualified nine events with their strong work done at Eddyville-Blakesburg this past Thursday. Individually, Lexi Kain is in the 400 meter dash and 400 meter hurdles, Rachel Peter will race in the 1500 and 3000 meters, and Abbi Gilson will throw the discus and shot put for the Mustangs. For the relays, PCM’s girls will run in the 4 x 100, 200 and 400 meter relays. Coach Burns told KNIA/KRLS Sports that she’s extremely proud of her girls and hopes that her girls “saved the best for last.”
