The PCM girls’ golf team will be sending one individual to the state competition next week, and that’s Maddie Peters. An 18-hole round of 89 was good enough for second place overall, and also good enough to get her ticket punched to Ames at the Ames Golf and Country Club for a chance to bring home an individual state title. Peters shot a 43 on the front nine to lead the pack at the halfway mark, despite carding a triple-bogey on hole number two. Peters also started the back nine with four straight sixes, but righted the ship with a par and a few bogeys to close her day out in the runner-up position. Peters will compete at the Ames Golf and Country Club next Tuesday and Wednesday at the state meet.
