It’s probably about this point in the season where the PCM girls’ golf team is just begging for the postseason start. And who can blame them? After the Mustangs ran away with another meet win on Friday, this time at Colfax-Mingo, triumphing by 19 strokes over Albia, who finished second. Coach Val Edwards tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that she challenged her girls to break the school record for a nine-hole meet, and they did just that by four strokes with their team score of 182. Cassidy Van Veen was the meet medalist, shooting a round of 44, with her teammates Kaitlyn Wilkie and Maddie Peters each scoring a 45. Pella Christian’s girls were also in attendance, and they finished just four strokes behind Albia to achieve third place. Amy Dunsbergen and Cori Uitermarkt each shot a 49 for the low scores for the Eagles. Both PCM and Pella Christian will be involved in the district tournament coming up on Monday.
