Among the major announcements made at this week’s RAGBRAI Town Hall meeting was the formation of a RAGBRAI grant. Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik says this grant fund will be composed of any surplus RAGBRAI funds the City has after recouping their RAGBRAI expenses.
He explains the City has set aside taxpayer funds to help pay for the event, and are using vendor fees and the beverage garden to recoup those funds. If there’s any surplus after those funds are recouped, it will go into this grant fund. Community members would then be able to apply for project funds to better the community. Feik adds that one community even made $60,000 during a recent RAGBRAI. He says that the grant fund is a way the City can thank residents for their help in staging a successful event.
