KNIA/KRLS’s Severe Weather Action Team went live yesterday after the National Weather Service called for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in northwestern Marion County. The warning was called just before 8pm Sunday, and went on for about 20 minutes. Last night’s system brought 0.93 inches of rain in all. More severe weather could occur today; the National Weather Service says Marion County has a slight risk for severe weather late this afternoon and evening.
Iowa’s tornado-free streak also ended last night after at least two tornadoes touched down in parts of the state. That streak ends at 359 days.
