The Tulip City Showdown makes its way to the baseball and softball diamonds on Monday when Pella and Pella Christian do battle. The Little Dutch baseball team is currently 0 – 7 on the year, and are coming off another one-run loss at the hands of Grinnell. Pella has lost their games by a combined nine runs, and are hoping to turn things around against the Eagles. Coach Jesse Jablonski says that the stars are aligned for his team to get their first win of the season; they’re at home, it’s a rivalry game, it’s a doubleheader, and it’s conference play. Jablonski says his guys just have to be ready to go when that first pitch is thrown. The Eagles are coming off a win over Oskaloosa on Friday and are 6 – 3 entering Monday’s contest. On the softball diamond, Pella Christian is 4 – 6 – 1 and are 0 – 3 in the conference, with all three of those losses coming against the Indians. Entering a busy week, Coach Nate Van Wyk says that you really can’t take a night off in the Little Hawkeye Conference with the level of competition up and down the league, so he’s looking to take things one game at a time. The Lady Dutch rebounded since a 1 – 6 start to win their last two contests. Both baseball and softball broadcasts can be streamed live at kniakrls.com, the softball game will be live on 92.1 KRLS with pregame starting at 7:15 p.m.
