Both teams vastly improved since they played a few weeks ago, Pella and Pella Christian will close out their baseball rivalry tonight on the Eagles’ diamond. Pella Christian has not played since Friday, when they beat Newton 8 – 6. Coach Nate Johnson says that entering this busy week, they will need to pace themselves. Johnson also said he’s confident his guys will come out and play a stronger game this time around against Pella. Also in the midst of a busy week, Pella head coach, Jesse Jablonski says that they have no shortage of pitchers this season, which bodes well with the number of games they are faced with in the coming days. Pella just played two games with Grinnell last night, splitting the doubleheader. They lost game one in a shootout, 10 – 7. Jacob Gleason was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI’s to lead the way for Pella. Gleason added to the dramatics in game two, however, hitting a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth to lead his team to a 7 – 6 victory. You can catch tonight’s varsity game between the two schools live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser and Marcus Johnson on the call. Pregame coverage will begin immediately following the Marion County PM Sports Page at around 7:15 p.m.
