The Knoxville Baseball Squad got solid pitching from Bryce Zoutte, and a huge two R-B-I triple from Jac Agan to defeat Newton last night 5-2. The Panthers opened the scoring with a Nolan Wallace solo homer, which was the first home run in over a season for Knoxville. The Panthers would tack on two more runs in the third to make it 3-0 on back-to-back R-B-Is by Kevin Woodhouse and Jake Kendall. Newton would make things interesting in the fourth and sixth innings plating a run in both frames, with runners at the corners in the sixth, but Kevin Woodhouse pitching in relief of Zoutte shut the door. That set the stage for Agan’s heroics in the seventh. Coach Joel Johnson said it was an all-around effort from the guys. Bryce Zoutte got the win pitching five plus innings surrendering two runs on just two hits, and walked three. Woodhouse got the save pitching the last two innings. He was also 3/4 with an R-B-I. Knoxville is now 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
