The Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union came out with regional brackets on Monday, and the roads to Fort Dodge have now all been paved for our area teams. Starting in Class 1A, Twin Cedars, Melcher-Dallas and Pleasantville are all in the same region, with the Sabers earning a round one bye. They will play the winner of Melcher-Dallas and Moravia on Monday, July 8. The Trojans have the daunting task of facing Grandview Park Baptist in Pleasantville for their opening round contest. Pella Christian in Class 2A opens up against North Mahaska on Tuesday, July 9 with the winner taking on Eddyville-Blakesburg in the next round. PCM’s gals face a conference foe in the first round against Nevada, also on the ninth, in Class 3A. Finally, we know for sure either Knoxville or Pella will make it to the Class 4A semifinals, as they are facing off against one another on Thursday, July 11. The winner of that game will take on Winterset. We’ll have live coverage of Knoxville, Pella and Pella Christian’s journey through the postseason live on KNIA/KRLS and online at KNIAKRLS.com.
