A big storyline this season for Central’s softball team was the injuries and how the team overcame them. Coach George Wares singled out a pair of pitchers that stepped up big for the Dutch to help propel them to the Division III World Series in Wisconsin last month. Both Mallory Schulenberg and Kelsey Stender, a sophomore and freshman, respectively, combined to go 26 – 7 with an ERA of 1.33. Coach Wares said that they helped the team stay the course this season, and were able to get more out of them later in the year. Central finished the season with an overall record of 32 – 9.
