Last night the Pella Community School Board approved some changes in policy that will take effect in the fall. Second graders will be allowed to ride their bikes to school, which was previously only allowed for third grade students and above. Also standard changes were made to student handbooks at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, but with the implementation of the one to one program at the high school level, handbooks will now be loaded onto the students device to save the cost of printing. A ten cent daily increase was also approved for school lunches across the board. This measure was passed to keep in compliance with USDA funding and reimbursement requirements. The next school board meeting was scheduled for July 15th at 4:30 pm.
