Pella Christian’s softball team had their bats come alive for a pair of tournament games at home on Saturday. The Eagles started out the day with a 15 – 3 win over Belle Plaine, in a game that saw every Eagle in the line-up score in the sixth inning. Jenna Roose (Rosa) had a single and a double, while Brooke Mitrisin went 3-for-4 with three RBI’s and three runs scored. The offense was clicking the championship match-up against Humbolt, but the Eagles fell, 11 – 8. The Eagles gave up seven runs in the first inning and were battling from behind the rest of the way. Tessa Howerzyl and Chloe Dembski each contributed two hits, and Jaynee VandeWeerdhof had just one hit, but it was a solo home run. Pella Christian currently possesses a 10 – 12 – 1 mark, and they are off until Wednesday when they host the rubber match with the Lady Dutch of Pella.
