One of the things that has bit Central baseball in the past, according to Coach Adam Stevens, has been the lack of a tough non-conference schedule. Several factors are taken into account when the NCAA selects schools for at-large bids into the Division III tournament, and one of them is strength-of-schedule. Knowing that, Coach Stevens upped the difficulty level for this 2013 season, playing some ranked teams down in Florida for the first few weeks of the campaign. Stevens even said that they had one of the toughest schedules in the country this past year. The 2014 schedule is not quite complete, but you can just about expect to see the same, if not more ranked teams away from Iowa Conference play to begin the year. Central finished up with a 22 – 19 record.
