City-of-Knoxville-Final-Logo
The Knoxville City Council recently gave final approval to an ordinance meant to abate problems associated with inflow and infiltration to city sewer mains. Residents will need to disconnect items such as sump pumps, downspouts, or other illegal connections from city sewer mains. If those disconnections are not made upon notification from the city, a $50 monthly fee will be assessed.
City Manager Harold Stewart says the goal is to eliminate wastewater from stormwater, decreasing costs associated with a wastewater treatment plant expansion that’s coming in the future. He adds that as part of the ordinance, the City is providing help with financing to residents who need it. For more information on the ordinance, call City Hall at 828-0550.
