A celebration of Knoxville parks gets underway early this morning. The June Jamboree begins at 7am at Young’s Park with a breakfast. A kids’ fun run starts at 8:30, and a 5K gets underway at 9am. There will be live music throughout the day, and the Big Red Radio will also be providing music and making announcements. Kids’ activities start at 10am, including a dunk tank, a climbing wall, and more. As the day wraps up, co-event organizer Ernie Smith says they’ll raffle off a few neat items, including a quilt, a 2001 Buick LeSabre, and a ride at Knoxville Raceway in a sprint car. Smith adds that a second sprint car ride will be auctioned off; only those who have bought a raffle ticket can participate in the auction. The June Jamboree is scheduled to wind down at 4pm. Proceeds from the event will go to the Kiwanis Miracle Playground Project.
